Pelargonium sidoides root extract (EPs®7630).
Description
The syrup also contains potassium sorbate 0.2% as preservative.
Indications/Uses
Traditionally used for the relief of common cold and cough.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tablet: Adults and Children >12 years: 1 tab 3 times daily.
Children 6-12 years: 1 tab 2 times daily (morning and evening).
Syrup: Adults and Children >12 years: 7.5 mL 3 times daily.
Children 6-12 years: 5 mL 3 times daily.
Children 1-5 years: 2.5 mL 3 times daily.
After relief of the symptoms, continue taking Kaloba for several days in order to prevent a relapse. The total duration of treatment should not exceed 3 weeks.
Contraindications
Kaloba should not be used in patients w/ severe liver or kidney disease as no adequate data are available.
Use in pregnancy & lactation: Kaloba should not be used during pregnancy & lactation as no adequate data are available.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to Pelargonium sidoides extract or to any of the excipients of Kaloba.
Hypersensitivity reactions may occur very rarely.

Side Effects
In the context of infections of the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal complaints eg, stomach pain, heartburn, nausea or diarrhea may occur in rare cases.
In rare cases, mild bleeding from the gums or nose may occur.
Hypersensitivity reactions (eg, skin rash, urticaria, itching of the skin and mucous membranes) have also been described in rare cases. Such reactions may already occur on the first taking of Kaloba. In very rare cases, serious hypersensitivity reactions with swelling of the face, shortness of breath and drop of blood pressure may occur.
Storage
Film-Coated Tablet: Store below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture.
Shelf-Life: 4 years.
Syrup: Store below 25°C. Protect from light and moisture.
Shelf-Life: 3 years.
