Indications/Uses
Cough suppressant.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult : PO 60 mg 3 times/day for ≤7 days.
Dosage Details
Oral
Cough suppressant
Adult: 60 mg tid for not >7 days.
Child: >2 yr: 1 mg/kg tid; >12 yr: 60 mg tid. Treatment duration: Not >7 days.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach. Take between meals.
Contraindications
Excessive mucus discharge and limited mucociliary function. Severe liver impairment.
Special Precautions
Severe renal insufficiency. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Child <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, heartburn, diarrhoea, fatigue, weakness, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, palpitations.
Drug Interactions
Additive sedation with sedatives and alcohol.
Action
Description: Levodropropizine is a cough suppressant that exerts peripheral action in nonproductive cough.
Pharmacokinetics:
Absorption: Rapidly absorbed from the GI tract (oral); peak plasma concentrations in 40 min.
Distribution: Protein-binding: 13%.
Storage
Store below 30°C (86°F).
