Lincomycin HCl
Serious infections due to susceptible strains of strep, pneumococci, staph & meningococci where less toxic agents are inappropriate.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Serious infections 600 mg IM 24 hrly or 600 mg-1 g IV 8-12 hrly. More severe infections 600 mg IM 12 hrly or more often. IV: Dose may be increased to max 8 g daily. Childn >1 mth 10 mg/kg single IM inj 12-24 hrly or more often, depending on severity of illness; 10-20 mg/kg daily IV in divided doses.
Hypersensitivity to clindamycin. Neonates.
Special Precautions
Discontinue immediately if diarrhoea or colitis occurs. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhoea & pseudomembranous colitis (discontinue immediately), nausea, vomiting.
Drug Interactions
Neuromuscular blockers.
