Amlodipine besylate
Indications/Uses
Essential HTN, MI or angina (unstable & vasospasm or Prinzmetal).
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN
Initially 2.5-10 mg daily. Maintenance: 5-10 mg daily.
Angina pectoris
Initially 5-10 mg daily. Maintenance: 10 mg daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to dihydropyridines.
Special Precautions
Severe left ventricular dysfunction, obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, oedema, increased intracranial pressure. Hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Peripheral oedema. Flushing, palpitations; headache, fatigue, dizziness, somnolence; dermatitis, rash, pruritus, urticaria; sexual dysfunction; cramps.
