Description
Each 100 g Nutren Junior contains energy 468 kcal, protein 13.9 g, fat 18.3 g, carbohydrate 60.7 g, dietary fibre 2.5 g, vitamin A 340 mcg-RE, vitamin D 4.2 mcg, vitamin E 4.2 mg-TE, vitamin K 25 mcg, vitamin C 33 mg, thiamine (B1) 0.5 mg, riboflavin (B2) 0.5 mg, niacin 6.5 mg-NE, vitamin B6 0.7 mg, folic acid 90 mcg, pantothenic acid 2.5 mg, vitamin B12 1 mcg, biotin 9.5 mcg, choline 120 mg, sodium 225 mg, potassium 560 mg, chloride 360 mg, calcium 380 mg, phosphorus 270 mg, magnesium 48 mg, manganese 0.4 mg, iron 4.8 mg, iodine 50 mcg, copper 0.4 mg, zinc 3.3 mg, selenium 20 mcg, chomium 14 mcg, molybdenum 25 mcg, flouride 0.1 mg, Lactobacillus paracasei probiotic 100 million CFU, Bifidobacterium longum probiotic 100 million CFU.
Nutren Junior is a complete and balanced nutrition with prebiotics, probiotics and DHA, especially formulated to meet the needs of children 1-10 years. It can be used as total or supplemental nutrition support for children who are unable to meet their nutritional requirements from regular food. Nutren Junior can be reconstituted to a variety of caloric densities with an energy distribution of protein 12%, lipid 35%, carbohydrates 52%, dietary fibre 1%.
Nutren Junior is lactose-free, gluten-free and Halal certified.
Proteins: Protein source is whey protein 50% and casein 50%. This unique blend of proteins is of high nutritional value and easily digested (3 g/100 mL).
Lipids: The lipid sources are high oleic sunflower oil, low erucic rapeseed oil, medium chain triglycerides (MCT), soy lecithin, milk fat, sunflower oil and fish oil. MCT represents 18.5% of the lipids which are easily absorbable and rapidly utilised source of energy. Lipid 3.95 g/100 mL. Essential fatty acids requirements are covered with 5% total energy intake (TEI).
Omega-6:Omega-3 ratio of 5. Fish oil contains DHA 43 mg/L and EPA 13 mg/L that help in brain and eye development.
Carbohydrates: Carbohydrates (13.3 g/100 mL) is obtained mainly from maltodextrin.
Micronutrients: Meets or exceeds the mineral requirements for children in 1000 kcal (ages 1-3) or 1500 kcal (ages 4-8).
Residue/Fibre: Nutren Junior is a low residue diet.
Osmolality: 330 mOsmol/kg H2O. Nutren Junior has a low osmolality; thus, reducing the risks of osmotic diarrhea.
Indications/Uses
For children aged 1-10, with functioning gastrointestinal tract in need of nutritional supplement and those with decreased ability to ingest food. Anorexia/weight loss, failure to thrive, pre- and postsurgery/illness, neurologic disorders, multiple fractures, cerebral palsy, burns, growth failure, trauma, facial trauma, congenital malformation, infectious disease, malignancy and increased metabolic rate.
Dosage/Direction for Use
For oral and tube feeding.
7 scoops or 55 g in 210 mL water provide 250 mL volume (255 kCal). Use under healthcare supervision.
Contraindications
Patients with complete bowel obstruction, enterocutaneous fistulas, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) or where enteral nutrition is contraindicated.
Storage
Store unopened can at room temperature. Once opened, cover the can and store in a dry location, at room temperature, and use the contents within 30 days of opening.
