Description
Each 100 g contains Protein 18.5 g, carbohydrate 53.2 g, fat 17.5 g, prebiotic fibre 5.6 g, vitamin A 390 mcg-RE, vitamin D3 8 mcg, vitamin E 75 mg-TE, vitamin K 46 mcg, vitamin C 48 mg, vitamin B1 0.44 mg, vitamin B2 0.5 mg, niacin 5.3 mg, vitamin B6 1.9 mg, folic acid 146 mcg, pantothenic acid 2.4 mg, vitamin B12 2.6 mcg, biotin 11 mcg, sodium 210 mg, potassium 685 mg, chloride 320 mg, calcium 491 mg, phosphorus 267 mg, magnesium 113 mg, manganese 0.84 mg, iron 7.3 mg, iodine 60 mcg, copper 0.59 mg, Zn 4.7 mg, selenium 33 mcg, chromium 19 mcg, molybdenum 35 mcg, Lactobacillus paracasei 1 billion cfu. Energy: 456 kCal.
Nutren Optimum is isocaloric (1 kcal/mL), nutritionally complete and balanced with prebiotics and probiotics, and with an energy distribution of protein 16%, lipid 35%, carbohydrate 49%.
Nutren Optimum is lactose-free, gluten-free and Halal certified.
Proteins: High nutritional value protein comprised of an easy digestible mix of whey 50% and casein 50%. Essential amino acids requirements are met by this combination: Nitrogen 1 g/160 total calories; and nitrogen 1 g/134 nonprotein calories.
Lipids: The lipid fraction of Nutren Optimum is composed of low erucic rapeseed oil, medium chain triglycerides (MCT), corn oil and soy lecithin. MCT, represent 25% of lipids, are easily absorbable and rapidly utilised source of energy. Essential fatty acids requirements are covered with 8.4% total energy intake (TEI). Omega-6: Omega-3 ratio of 4.
Carbohydrates: The carbohydrate fraction is mainly composed of maltodextrins in order to maintain a low osmolality.
Micronutrients: Vitamins and minerals meet 100% of the US RDA with 1500 mL (1500 kcal).
Osmolality: 340 mOsmol/kg H2O. Nutren Optimum is low in osmolality for enhanced feeding tolerance.
Indications/Uses
Isotonic, nutritionally complete and balanced diet with prebiotics and probiotics, for the prevention and correction of malnutrition: Pre- and postoperation, burn, orthopaedic or reduced oral intake.
Dosage/Direction for Use
For oral and tube feeding.
7 scoops or 55 g in 190 mL water provide 244 kcal. Standard Tube Feeding: May be initiated at full strength but establish the regimen gradually when initiating tube feeding.
Contraindications
Patients with non-functioning gut, malabsorption problems, severe food allergies, or where enteral nutrition is contraindicated.
Storage
Store unopened can at room temperature. Once opened, cover the can and store in a dry location, at room temperature, and use the contents within 30 days of opening.
