Indications/Uses

Treatment & prevention of flu.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult & adolescent ≥13 yr Treatment 75 mg bd for 5 days. Post-exposure prevention 75 mg once daily for at least 7 days. Prevention during community epidemic 75 mg once daily for up to 6 wk. Treatment CrCl 10-30 mL/min 75 mg once daily for 5 days. Prevention CrCl >30 mL/min 75 mg once daily, 10-30 mL/min 75 mg every 2nd day.

Overdosage

View Omiflu overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Administration

May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

Special Precautions

Underlying resp or cardiac disease; complications of acute flu episode eg, viral or bacteria pneumonia. Not recommended for prevention in patients w/ CrCl <10 mL/min & dialysis patients. Patients w/ CrCl 10-30 mL/min; undergoing haemodialysis & continuous peritoneal dialysis w/ end stage renal disease. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn ≤12 yr.
