Per 5 mL Triprolidine HCl 1.25 mg, pseudoephedrine HCl 30 mg, dextromethorphan HBr 15 mg
Indications/Uses
Relief of dry irritating cough associated w/ common cold, URTI & allergic rhinitis. Helps dry up running nose & opens congested bronchi to aid clear breathing.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 10 mL tds, 6-12 yr 5 mL tds, 2-5 yr 2.5 mL tds.
Contraindications
Severe HTN or CAD. Patients taking MAOIs or w/in 2 wk from discontinuation. Concomitant administration of furazolidone. Cough associated w/ asthma or excessive secretions. Patients at risk of developing resp failure. Childn <2 yr.
Special Precautions
Epilepsy, prostatic hypertrophy, glaucoma, HTN, heart disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, stenosing peptic ulcer, pyloroduodenal & bladder neck obstruction. Avoid alcohol. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Hepatic disease. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn 2-6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, GI discomfort. Transient HTN, dry mouth, insomnia, restlesness, palpitation, allergic reactions.
Drug Interactions
Rise in BP w/ sympathomimetic agents eg, decongestants, TCAs, appetite suppressants & amphetamine-like psychostimulants or w/ MAOIs. Partially reversed hypotensive action of drugs interfering w/ sympathetic activity including bretylium, betanidine, guanethidine, debrisoquine, methyldopa, α- & β-adrenergic-blocking agents.
