Follitrophin α 150 IU, lutropin α 75 IU
Indications/Uses
Stimulation of follicular development in women w/ severe LH & FSH deficiency (endogenous serum LH level <1.2 IU/L).
Dosage/Direction for Use
SC Recommended initial dose: 1 vial daily, may be increased after 7-14-day intervals by 37.5-75 IU increments if necessary. Duration of stimulation in any 1 cycle may be extended to up to 5 wk. When an optimal response is obtained, a single inj of 5,000-10,000 IU hCG should be administered 24-48 hr after the last Pergoveris inj. The patient is recommended to have coitus on the day of & on the day following hCG administration. Alternatively, intrauterine insemination may be performed.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Hypothalamus & pituitary gland tumours; ovarian enlargement or cyst not due to polycystic ovarian disease; gynaecological haemorrhages of unknown aetiology; ovarian, uterine or mammary carcinoma; primary ovarian failure; sexual organ malformations & uterine fibroid tumours incompatible w/ pregnancy. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Porphyria or family history of porphyria; DM; hypothyroidism, adrenocortical deficiency, hyperprolactinemia, pituitary or hypothalamic tumours. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). Thromboembolic events. Regularly monitor ovarian response & serum oestradiol levels. Multiple & ectopic pregnancy. Pregnancy wastage by miscarriage. Congenital malformations. Not to be used during pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Mild to severe inj site reactions (pain, redness, bruising, swelling &/or irritation); headache, somnolence; ovarian cysts. Abdominal pain & GI symptoms eg, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal cramps & bloating; breast & pelvic pain, mild to moderate OHSS.
Drug Interactions
Not to be administered as mixt w/ other medicinal products in same inj.
