Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN Initiate at 5 mg once daily, increased as required. Maintenance: 5-10 mg once daily. Elderly Initially 2.5 mg daily. Angina pectoris Initiate at 5 mg once daily, may be increased to 10 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Take w/o food or w/ a light meal. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Uncompensated heart failure, acute MI, unstable angina pectoris, haemodynamically significant cardiac valvular obstruction, dynamic cardiac outflow obstruction. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Rarely, may precipitate significant hypotension which can lead to myocardial ischaemia. Pronounced gingivitis/periodontitis. Galactose intolerance. Hepatic impairment.
Adverse Reactions
Flushing, headache, palpitations, dizziness, fatigue, dose-dependent ankle swelling, mild gingival enlargement, peripheral oedema.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma conc by cimetidine, erythromycin, itraconazole, ketoconazole & grapefruit juice. Decreased plasma conc by phenytoin, carbamazepine, rifampicin, barbiturates & St. John's wort. Increased tacrolimus conc.
