Budesonide
Indications/Uses
Seasonal allergic & allergic/non-allergic perennial rhinitis. Treatment or prevention of nasal polyps after polypectomy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥6 yr Rhinitis 2 puffs into each nostril in the morning or 1 puff into each nostril bd. Treatment or prevention of nasal polyps 4 puffs (256 mcg) daily in 1-2 divided doses.
Special Precautions
Transfer from systemic-acting glucocorticosteroids to Rhinocort & suspected pituitary adrenocortical function disturbances. Fungal & viral nasal infections. Pulmonary TB. Regular monitoring of growth in childn & adolescents receiving long-term treatment.
Adverse Reactions
Local symptoms. Slight hemorrhagic secretion & epistaxis. Skin reactions (urticaria, rash, dermatitis, angioedema).
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma levels w/ ketoconazole. Potent CYP3A4 inhibitors.
