Fluoxetine HCl
Indications/Uses
Depression. Bulimia nervosa.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Depression 20 mg daily. Max: 80 mg daily. Bulimia nervosa 60 mg daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Acute mania. Childn <18 yr.
Special Precautions
CV problems. Concomitant or w/in 14 days of MAOI therapy. Renal or hepatic impairment, epilepsy, DM. Patients on diuretics or vol-depleted. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Somnolence, headache, nervousness, insomnia, unusual movements or tremor, anxiety, dizziness, GI disturbances, heavy sweating.
Drug Interactions
MAOIs, St. John's wort, digoxin, warfarin, L-tryptophan, lithium, alcohol; imipramine, desipramine, risperidone, venlafaxine, haloperidol, clozapine, flecainide, propafenone; alprazolam, carbamazepine, diazepam, phenytoin.
