Action
Centella Asiatica Extract: Centella asiatica is effective in improving treatment of small wounds, hypertrophic wounds as well as burns, psoriasis and scleroderma. The mechanism of action involves promoting fibroblast proliferation and increasing the synthesis of collagen and intracellular fibronectin content and also improvement of the tensile strength of newly formed skin as well as inhibiting the inflammatory phase of hypertrophic scars and keloids. Research results indicate that it can be used in the treatment of photoaging skin, cellulite and striae.
Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil: Ethnomedical uses of O. europaea are recorded throughout the world where it has been used to treat various ailments. The plant materials and isolated components have shown a wide spectrum of in vitro and in vivo pharmacological activities like antidiabetic, anticonvulsant, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, analgesic, antimicrobial, antiviral, antihypertensive, anticancer, antihyperglycemic, antinociceptive, gastroprotective, and wound healing activities. Conclusions. O. europaea emerged as a good source of traditional medicine for the treatment of various ailments.
Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract: Scutellaria baicalensis contains at least 126 small molecules and 6 polysaccharides. It possesses anti-tumor, anti-viral, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, and neuroprotective activities. Chemical compounds responsible for many of these activities are still unknown, though the bioactivities of a few major compounds (baicalin, baicalein, wogonoside, and wogonin) have been extensively studied.
Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract: P. cuspidatum Siebold & Zucc. is rich with phenolics and has been used for the treatments of amenorrhea, arthralgia, jaundice, abscess, scald, and bruises. The main active ingredients in P. cuspidatum Siebold & Zucc. are epicatchin, resveratrol, and emodin according to HPLC-diode array detection-flow injection-chemiluminescence.
Epicatchin treatment has been reported to ameliorate the toxicity of cyclosporine A by decreasing the lipid peroxidation and enhancing the antioxidant properties by reducing the levels of reactive oxygen species. Previous data demonstrated that resveratrol exerted its protective functions by mediating oxidative stress and enhancing antioxidant activities.
It also can affect the pathological changes in animals against inflammation caused by nicotine. Emodin can protect cells against the damage caused by cerulein and lipopolysaccharide and control inflammatory status in cells. The extracts from P. cuspidatum Siebold & Zucc. (PCSE) have a promising antimicrobial activity for controlling drug-resistant bacteria.
Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract: The total flavonoid content of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. leaf and root extracts. Results suggested that the total flavonoid content in the leaf extract was obviously higher than that in the root extract.
Pinocembrin, the main compound in the leaf extract after purification by column chromatography, showed good antioxidant activity and nitrite scavenging capacity, but moderate inhibitory effect on mushroom tyrosinase.
Liquiritin was the main compound in root extract and possessed strong inhibitory effect on mushroom tyrosinase. Both compounds exhibited significant protection effect on H2O2-injured PC12 cells at a low concentration. These results indicate that Glycyrrhiza glabra L. leaf is potential as an important raw material for functional food.
Camellia sinensis Leaf Extract: Camellia sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract is the oil extract from the green tea plant Camellia sinensis. Green tea and its major polyphenol constituents, the catechins, have been reported to have many health benefits including the prevention of cancer and heart disease. Camellia sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract has been shown to offer significant benefits for our skin, either taken as a beverage or applied topically. It is a powerful skin antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory powers, can repair DNA damaged by UV radiation, can protect the skin from UVB radiation, and reduce water loss through the epidermis.
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, or Aloe Vera as it is more commonly known, is extracted from the leaves of the plant Aloe. Scientists have discovered over 200 nutritional substances in Aloe barbadensis leafs, including 20 minerals, 20 amino acids, 12 vitamins, and active enzymes.
Aloe barbadensis leaf juice can soothe skin and serve as an anti-inflammatory. It can be efficiently used topically, because of its burn healing effects, scar reducing and wounds healing properties. Aloe protects the skin from UV damage. The herb contains aloin, which can block up to 30 percent of the ultraviolet rays when applied to the skin's surface.
This plant, which carry the status of super star, contains an impressive number of vitamins, including A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, E, Choline and Folic Acid. These vitamins are great for protecting the skin from free radicals, dangerous compounds that cause signs of premature aging due to damaging effects on the DNA and other cell structures.
The herb also contains enzymes, which are the life-principle in every live. These organic molecules rejuvenate aged tissues and promote healthy skin.
Althaea Rosea Flower Extract: The flowers are a range of colours from white to dark red, including pink, yellow and orange. Different colours prefer different soils. The darker red variety seems to favour sandy soils, while the lighter colour seems to favour clay soils.
The plants are easily grown from seed, and readily self-seed. However, tender plants, whether young from seed or from old stock, may be wiped out by slugs and snails. The foliage is subject to attack from rust (Puccinia malvacearum), which may be treated with fungicides. Commercial growers have reported that some closely related species (Althaea rugosa and Althaea ficifolia) are resistant to this fungus.
In herbal medicine, Hollyhock is believed to be an emollient and laxative. It is used to control inflammation, to stop bedwetting and as a mouthwash in cases of bleeding gums.
Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract: Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is a herb in the mint (Lamiaceae) family, native to rocky areas of the mediterranean, southern Europe and western Asia. Known to be hardy and drought-resistant, these shrubs grow to around 1.5 meters tall with firm needle like leaves.
Highly fragrant and flavoursome, the leaves have wide culinary use both as a fresh and dried herb, particularly in mediterranean cuisine.
The flowering tops and leaves can also be steam-distilled to produce rosemary oil, which is used in perfumes, incense, shampoos and cleaning products.
Chamomila Recutita Flower Extract: Chamomile is known to have anti-inflammatory properties. Many of the active ingredients are powerful, including the flavonoids apigenin, luteolin, and quercetin, and the volatile oils including alpha-bisabolol and matricin.
If the patient suffers itchy skin caused by dry skin or eczema, Chamomile is often used as a natural treatment. Its flowers also have flavonoids which help contribute the lessening of redness and itchiness of the skin.
In most cosmetic products Chamomile is used as a conditioning agent to help restore suppleness to the skin and reduce the appearance of dry and flaky skin.
Babies' skin especially is so sensitive. Their skin is just getting used to the harshness of their new environment. It's important that we keep their skin hydrated, protected and full of antioxidants.
