Active immunization against yellow fever.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult & childn ≥9 mth Primary vaccination 0.5 mL single SC dose. Revaccination 0.5 mL single SC dose, at least 10 yr & may be life-long.

Overdosage

View Stamaril overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the vaccine, eggs, chicken proteins or after previous inj. Immunosuppression, whether congenital, idiopathic or as a result of treatment w/ systemic steroids, RT or cytotoxic drugs; history of thymus dysfunction; symptomatic & asymptomatic HIV infection. Moderate or severe febrile or acute illness. Infant <6 mth.

Special Precautions

Not to be inj intravascularly. Not to be inj IM in patients w/ bleeding disorder or on anticoagulant therapy. Yellow fever vaccine-associated neurotopic & viscerotropic disease, immunosuppressed patients, symptomatic or asymptomatic HIV infection. Syncope. Not to be used during pregnancy & lactation. Childn born to HIV +ve mothers; childn <9 mth. Elderly ≥60 yr.

Adverse Reactions

Loss of appetite; drowsiness, cephalalgia; vomiting; myalgia; irritability, crying, fever, asthenia, inj site pain/tenderness. Nausea; rash; arthralgia; inj site erythema/redness, haematoma, induration, oedema/swelling.

Drug Interactions

Immunosuppressants eg, cytotoxic agents, systemic steroids. False +ve results for other flavivirus-related diseases eg, dengue or Japanese encephalitis.
