Terbutaline sulfate
Indications/Uses
Relief of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma & bronchitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Syr Adult 1 tbsp bd-tds. Childn 7-15 yr 1-2 tsp tds, 3-6 yr ½-1 tsp tds, <3 yr ½ tsp tds.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to sympathomimetic amines. Not to be used in patients w/ thyrotoxicosis.
Special Precautions
CV disorder eg, ischemic heart disease, HTN & cardiac arrhythmias; hyperthyroidism & DM.
Adverse Reactions
Increased heart rate, changed BP, nervousness, tremor, palpitation & dizziness. Headache, nausea, vomiting, anxiety, restlessness, lethargy, drowsiness, weakness, flushes, sweating, chest discomfort, muscle cramps & tinnitus.
Drug Interactions
Additive adverse CV effect w/ sympathomimetic agents. Antagonized effect w/ β-adrenergic blocking agents eg, propranolol. Increased risk of arrhythmias w/ TCAs.

R03CC03 - terbutaline ; Belongs to the class of adrenergics for systemic use, selective beta-2-adrenoreceptor agonists. Used in the treatment of obstructive airway diseases.
