Lidocaine HCl
Indications/Uses
Short-term local treatment of pain associated w/ sore throat in nonpurulent infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 loz 2 hrly. Max: 6 loz daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to lidocaine HCl, local anesthetics of the amide-type; or to any other excipients. Childn <12 yr.
Special Precautions
Fructose intolerance, sorbitol (excipient) side effects; swallowing difficulties; severely traumatised &/or inflammation of oropharyngeal mucosa in patients w/ CV or convulsive disorders. Renal & hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Very rarely, hypersensitivity reactions, GI disorders & diarrhea; rarely, gustatory changes.
Drug Interactions
Cimetidine, β-blockers, propranolol, inductors of liver enzymes eg, benzodiazepines, barbiturates.
