Dorzolamide HCl
Indications/Uses
Elevated IOP in patients w/ ocular HTN or open-angle glaucoma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Monotherapy 1 drop tds. Adjunctive therapy w/ ophth β-blocker 1 drop bd. When substituting for another ophth antiglaucoma agent Discontinue other agent after proper dosing on 1 day & start Trusopt on the next day.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if signs of hypersensitivity occurs. Acute angle-closure glaucoma; conjunctivitis & lid reactions; choroidal detachment; patients w/ low endothelial cell counts. Not to be administered while wearing soft contact lenses. Remove contact lens prior to administration & reinsert after 15 min. Not recommended in concomitant use w/ oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. Not recommended in severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min). Hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. Elderly ≥65 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Bitter taste, burning & stinging, blurred vision, eye itching, tearing, headache, conjunctivitis, eyelid inflammation & irritation, nausea, asthenia/fatigue.
Drug Interactions
Toxicity w/ high-dose salicylate therapy.
