Salmonella typhi polysaccharides (Ty 2 strain)
Indications/Uses
Prevention of typhoid fever in adults & childn >2 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
0.5 mL IM or SC inj as single dose. Revaccination every 2-3 yr if risk of exposure continues.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to vaccine or formaldehyde. Postpone vaccination in acute febrile disease.
Special Precautions
Anaphylactic reaction. Not to be inj intravascularly. Not for protection against Salmonella paratyphi A or B or non-typhoidal salmonella. Syncope; thrombocytopenia or bleeding disorders. Reduced immunogenicity by immunosuppressive treatment or immunodeficiency. Pregnancy. Not to be used in childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Myalgia; inj site pain, erythema, swelling, oedema & induration, malaise, fatigue/asthenia. Fever.
