Tegafur 100 mg, uracil 224 mg

Indications/Uses

Remission of subjective & objective symptoms in head & neck, gastric, colorectal, liver, gallbladder, bile duct, pancreatic, lung, breast, bladder, prostatic & uterine cervical cancers. Colorectal cancer in combination w/ folinate.

Dosage/Direction for Use

300-600 mg daily in 2-3 divided doses. Uterine cervical cancer Total dose: 600 mg daily in 2-3 doses. Doses may apply to combination regimen w/ other antineoplastics. Combination therapy w/ folinate for colorectal cancer Adult Tegafur 300-600 mg + folinate 75 mg daily in 3 divided doses. Repeat a course of 28-day consecutive administration, followed by 7-day rest period.

Overdosage

View Ufur overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Administration

Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take at least 1 hr before or after meals.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Concomitant therapy w/ sorivudine. Pregnancy & lactation.

Bone marrow depression. Monitor hematologic, hepatic & renal function. Infectious diseases, varicella, gastric or duodenal symptoms, glucose intolerance, heart disease. Patients on or previously treated w/ chemotherapy. Hepatic & renal impairment. Childn. Elderly.

Serious blood dyscrasia & GI disorder w/ tegafur, gimeracil & oteracil K. Enhanced warfarin K. Elevated blood conc w/ sorivudine. Intensified phenytoin action. Exaggerated ARs w/ other antimalignant tumor agents or radiation therapy.
