Indications/Uses
Constipation & hepatic encephalopathy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Constipation Adult & adolescent Initially 15-45 mL daily in single or 2 divided doses, may be adjusted to 15-30 mL daily in single or 2 divided doses. Childn 7-14 yr Initially 15 mL daily in single or 2 divided doses, may be adjusted to 10-15 mL daily in single or 2 divided doses, 1-6 yr 5-10 mL daily. Infant <1 yr Up to 5 mL daily. Hepatic encephalopathy Adult Initially 30-45 mL tds-qds.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Galactosaemia & bowel obstruction.
Special Precautions
Diabetics. Lactose intolerance. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Flatulence, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, electrolyte imbalance (high doses), hypernatremia.
Drug Interactions
Not to be taken w/ other laxatives.
