Levocetirizine diHCl
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis including persistent allergic rhinitis & chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult, adolescent ≥12 yr & childn 6-12 yr 1 tab daily. Syr Adult, adolescent ≥12 yr, childn 6-12 yr 10 mL daily. Childn 2-6 yr 2.5 mL bd. CrCl ≥80 mL/min 1 tab once daily, 50-79 mL/min 1 tab once daily, 30-49 mL/min 1 tab once every 2 days, <30 mL/min 1 tab once every 3 days.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine or any piperazine derivatives. Severe renal impairment (CrCl <10 mL/min).
Special Precautions
May affect ability to drive & use machines. Renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Tab: Concurrent use w/ alcohol. Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Not recommended in childn <6 yr. Syr: Not recommended in infants & toddlers <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Dry mouth, headache, fatigue, somnolence.
Drug Interactions
Decreased clearance w/ theophylline. Decreased absorption rate w/ food.
