Why do I need this medicine?

Chlordiazepoxide and Clidinium bromide are combined together in this medicine.

Chlordiazepoxide + Clidinium bromide is used to treat stomach problems caused by anxiety and tension.

This medicine is used together with other medicines to treat stomach ulcer and irritable bowel syndrome.

This medicine may be used to treat other conditions as decided by your doctor.

How do I take this medicine?

Take Chlordiazepoxide + Clidinium bromide exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Take it on an empty stomach, at least 1/2-1 hour before meals and at bedtime. Try to take it at the same time each day.

If you are taking this medicine over a certain period of time, do not stop taking this medicine suddenly as this may worsen your condition. Your doctor may want to reduce the dose of this medicine gradually before stopping it completely. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.

When should I not use this medicine?

Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • increased pressure in the eye
  • enlarged prostate
  • blockage of bladder causing urination problems
as this medicine may not be suitable for you.

Do not take Chlordiazepoxide + Clidinium bromide with certain medicines for sleep disorder or anxiety and pain. Please see the section "Can I take this with other medicines?" below for more information.

What should I take note of while taking this medicine?

Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • depression or thoughts of self-harm
  • liver disease
  • kidney disease
  • lung disease
  • history of drug or alcohol abuse
  • impaired gag reflex
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Chlordiazepoxide + Clidinium bromide to elderly people or debilitated patients. They may be more sensitive to the side effects.

What side effects could I experience?

Chlordiazepoxide + Clidinium bromide may cause drowsiness or dizziness. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert.

Other side effects include any of the following: constipation, nausea, dry mouth, problems urinating, fast heartbeat, muscle weakness, confusion and loss of coordination.

Some side effects may need immediate medical help. Alert your doctor quickly if you experience the following:
  • unusual changes in mood or behavior (being too depressed, agitated, or having compulsive and impulsive behaviour)
  • having thoughts of self-harm
  • hallucination (hearing or seeing things that are non-existent)
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.

Can I take this with other medicines?

Do not take Chlordiazepoxide + Clidinium bromide with the following medicines:
  • medicines for moderate to severe pain e.g. hydrocodone, oxycodone, buprenorphine, fentanyl, morphine
  • medicines for sleep disorder or anxiety e.g. alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
  • medicines for cold or allergy e.g. chlorpheniramine, loratadine
  • medicines to treat depression e.g. fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, amitriptyline, citalopram, sertraline
  • medicines for mental or mood disorders e.g. prochlorperazine, haloperidol, clozapine
  • medicines for epilepsy (fits or seizures) e.g. phenytoin, carbamazepine
  • medicines for asthma e.g. tiotropium, ipratropium, theophylline
  • medicines for Parkinson's disease (a brain disease that affects movement) e.g. amantadine
  • stomach medicines e.g. cimetidine, metoclopramide
  • medicines for motion sickness e.g. meclizine, hyoscine
  • herbal medicines e.g. St. John's wort
This list does not include all medicines that may interact with Chlordiazepoxide + Clidinium bromide.

What special dietary instructions should I follow?

Avoid alcohol.

How should I store this medicine?

Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
