Why do I need this medicine?

Clodronic Acid injection is used to strengthen and protect the bones from further damage.

Clodronic Acid injection is used to treat bone diseases that occur together with certain types of cancers.

Clodronic Acid injection helps to prevent calcium from leaking out of your bones. It helps to strengthen your bones and reduce the chances of getting fractures and bone pain. It also helps to lower the level of calcium in the bloodstream -- this helps to prevent metabolic disturbances.

How do I use this medicine?

Clodronic Acid injection is to be given intravenously (into the vein). It is delivered directly into the bloodstream via the blood vessel.

Your doctor or nurse will administer the injection for you. The injection is usually given over a period of 2-6 hours via a drip. It may be given just once only, or it may be given everyday for about 7 days.

Clodronic Acid injection is given when you are not able to swallow pills or if you need urgent treatment for your condition. Your doctor will advise you when you can switch from the injection to the pills.

What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?

If you miss a dose of your injection, arrange to have it administered as soon as possible.
