Why do I need this medicine?

Doxazosin is used to treat symptoms of benign prostatic hypertrophy (enlargement of the prostate).

This medicine helps relieve symptoms of prostate enlargement such as slow or interrupted flow of urine, frequent urination, dribbling after passing urine and a sensation of incomplete bladder emptying.

Doxazosin may also be used on its own or together with other medicines to treat high blood pressure.

This medicine may be used to treat other conditions as decided by your doctor.

How do I take this medicine?

Take Doxazosin exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

You may take Doxazosin with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.

If you are taking the extended-release type of tablet (usually labeled as "XL"), swallow it whole. Do not divide, chew or crush the tablet.

Doxazosin must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed by the doctor.

What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?
