Why do I need this medicine?

Isotretinoin is used to treat mild to moderate acne.

How do I use this medicine?

Use Isotretinoin exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.

How to apply this medicine:
  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Wash the affected area and let it dry before applying the medicine.
  3. Using your fingertips, apply a thin layer of this medicine over the entire affected area.
  4. Wash your hands after each application.
  5. Allow the applied medicine to dry before using any other product or make up.

What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?

Use the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to use your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.

When should I not use this medicine?

Do not use Isotretinoin if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby soon. If you become pregnant while being treated with this medicine, alert your doctor immediately. Isotretinoin may cause harm to your unborn child. You must use proven birth control methods while taking this medicine.

Do not breastfeed while you are being treated with this medicine.

What should I take note of while using this medicine?

Isotretinoin may cause your skin to be more sensitive to sunlight. Apply sunscreen when going outdoors. Avoid direct or prolonged exposure to the sun and ultraviolet (UV) lamps like tanning beds.

Avoid contact of this medicine with your eyes, nose or mouth. If this occurs, rinse the affected area immediately with water. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyes.

Do not apply on sensitive areas of your skin such as the neck.

Do not apply on inflammed, irritated, sunburned or broken skin.

What side effects could I experience?

Isotretinoin may cause any of the following side effects: dryness, redness, itching, peeling, burning sensation or irritation of the skin.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.

Can I use this with other medicines?

Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are using any other medicines in the affected skin e.g. benzoyl peroxide.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.

How should I store this medicine?

Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. Protect from heat.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
