Why do I need this medicine?

Mometasone helps relieve inflammation and itch that may occur with certain skin problems such as psoriasis (skin disorder characterized by thick, red patches of skin covered by thick, white or silvery scales) and dermatitis (inflammation of the skin).

How do I use this medicine?

Apply Mometasone exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more often or longer than than instructed by your doctor.

If you have been given a cream, ointment or lotion, follow these steps:
  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Clean and dry affected area before application.
  3. Rub Mometasone gently on the skin or scalp until it disappears. Do not cover, wrap or bandage the area unless instructed by the doctor.
  4. Wash your hands after using.
  5. Replace the cap of the tube.
Avoid contact with eyes or mouth. Rinse immediately with water if this medicine gets into your eyes or mouth. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyes.

Do not use with occlusive dressing unless instructed by the doctor.

Mometasone must be used regularly for it to be effective. Continue using this medicine until your skin problem is controlled. If you will be using Mometasone for a long time, do not stop using it suddenly as this may worsen your condition. Your doctor may want to reduce the dose of Mometasone gradually before stopping it completely.
