Why do I need this medicine?

Salbutamol is used on its own or together with other medicines to treat asthma. It is also used to prevent asthma symptoms brought on by exercise.

This medicine helps treat your asthma by relaxing the airways in your lungs. This medicine relieves chest tightness, wheezing and cough so that you can breathe more easily.

How do I use this medicine?

Use Salbutamol exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.

This medicine is available in different types of devices, such as accuhaler, evohaler or diskhaler. Salbutamol is also available as a nebulising solution to be used with a machine known as a nebuliser.

Make sure you know how to use the specific device or machine which you have been given. If you have problems or do not understand the instructions, ask your doctor or pharmacist to show you how to use it.

If you are using this medicine to relieve asthma brought on by exercise, use your inhaler 10-15 minutes before you exercise.

What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?

Administer the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

If you often forget to administer your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
