Why do I need this medicine?

Tinidazole is used to treat infections of the digestive tract and liver and certain sexually transmitted diseases (STD). It may also be used together with other medicines for gastric ulcers caused by a type of bacteria known as Helicobacter pylori.

This medicine is also used to treat and prevent infections after an operation.

How do I take this medicine?

Take Tinidazole exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

This medicine should be taken with food or immediately after a meal. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Take this medicine at regular intervals. Do not skip any doses and continue to take Tinidazole even when you feel better. To clear the infection, you must complete the entire course unless otherwise directed.

What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.

What should I take note of while taking this medicine?

Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, blood diseases or history of blood diseases.

If you are being treated with Tinidazole for STD, you should follow your doctor's advice on ways to prevent passing the disease to others. You should also avoid sexual contact until the doctor certifies that you are cleared of the infection.

Some side effects may need immediate medical help. Alert your doctor quickly if you experience any of the following: rashes, breathlessness, swollen mouth or eyes.
