Why do I need this medicine?

Tioconazole is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, nails and vagina.

How do I use this medicine?

Apply Tioconazole exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not apply more or less than instructed by your doctor.

If you have been given an ointment, follow these steps:

1. Wash your hands.
2. Clean and dry the affected area before application.
3. Apply Tioconazole onto the infected area. Do not cover, wrap or bandage the area unless instructed by the doctor.
4. Wash your hands after applying the medicine.

If you are using a topical solution, follow these steps:

1. Wash your hands.
2. Clean and dry the affected area before application.
3. Apply a thin layer of the solution over the affected nail(s) and surrounding skin using the brush provided.
4. Leave the nail to dry for 10-15 minutes after application. A transparent and slightly greasy film will form over your nails.
5. Avoid contact with soapy water or detergent immediately after applying the solution. Use waterproof gloves if necessary.

Avoid direct contact of this medicine with your eyes. Rinse immediately with water if this medicine gets into your eyes. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyes.

Tioconazole must be used regularly for it to be effective. Continue using this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop using it unless instructed by the doctor.

What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?

Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to use your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.

When should I not use this medicine?

Do not use Tioconazole if you ever had an allergic reaction (rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to this medicine.

What should I take note of while using this medicine?

Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Do not allow Tioconazole to come into contact with your eyes, ears, nose or mouth. Do not swallow or inhale the solution.

Avoid using nail varnish or artificial nails on the infected nail while being treated with this medicine.

Maintain good hygiene as this is important in managing fungal infections.

What side effects could I experience?

Tioconazole may cause any of the following side effects: skin irritation such as itching, burning sensation and swelling at the application site.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.

Can I use this with other medicines?

Let your doctor know if you are using any creams, ointments or other medicines on the affected area.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.

How should I store this medicine?

Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
