Indications/Uses
Active immunization against rabies. Pre-exposure prophylaxis to rabies & post-exposure treatment of individuals after contact w/ rabid or suspected rabid animals.
Pre-exposure prophylaxisAdult & childn 0.5 mL IM into the deltoid in adult & in the antero-lateral region of the thigh in childn, or 0.1 mL intradermally in each upper arm on days 0, 7, 28. Booster dose: 1 yr later, thereafter, every 5 yrs. Post-exposure immunizationAdult & childn 0.5 mL IM into the deltoid on days 0, 3, 7, 14, 28 & 90 (optional) or 0.1 mL intradermally in each upper arm on days 0, 3, 7 & 28.
Do not inject in the gluteal region or intravascularly. Postpone vaccination in severe febrile infection, acute disease & progressive chronic diseases. Wound should not be sutured for 7 days. Anaphylactic or allergic reactions. Pregnancy & lactation.
