Indications/Uses
GERD. Benign peptic ulcer (duodenal & gastric ulcer). NSAID-associated gastric & duodenal ulcer. Pathological hyper-secretory condition eg, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Adjuvant therapy w/ amoxicillin or clarithromycin to eradicate H. pylori infection.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Duodenal ulcer 15 mg once daily for 4 wk. Benign gastric ulcer 30 mg once daily for up to 8 wk. NSAID-associated gastric ulcer Healing: 30 mg once daily for 8 wk; risk reduction: 15 mg once daily for up to 12 wk. Treatment of symptomatic GERD 15 mg once daily for up to 8 wk. Treatment of erosive esophagitis 30 mg once daily for up to 8 wk. Pediatric (12-17 yr) Non-erosive GERD 15 mg once daily up to 8 wk. Erosive esophagitis 30 mg once daily up to 8 wk. Maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis 15 mg once daily. Pediatric (1-11 yr) treatment of symptomatic GERD and treatment of erosive esophagitis Childn <30 kg 15 mg once daily for up to 12 wk, childn >30 kg 30 mg once daily for up to 12 wk.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Swallow whole, do not crush/chew.
Special Precautions
Consider dose adjustment in patients w/ severe liver disease.
