How should the patient use Lydia Fine: Lydia Fine is to be taken orally, in the order directed on the pack, at the same time on each day, preferably after the evening meal or before going to bed.
Start taking Lydia Fine on the 1st day of the menstrual period. Continue taking 1 pill a day without interruption for 28 days until the blister is empty.
Bleeding will usually occur after taking 2-3 brown pills. Start the next blister immediately even if the patient is still bleeding.
What to do if a pill is missed: Should the patient forget to take a pill at the time it was due to be taken, the missed pill should be taken as soon as remembered to take it.
Take another pill at the usual time even if it means taking 2 tablets on the same day.
Subsequent tablets should be taken at the usual time.
If more than 12 hours have passed, the contraceptive protection might be reduced and therefore it is advisable to use a supplementary contraceptive method (non oral).
Should the patient have forgotten 2 pills or more refer to the Doctor.
What to do if the patient misses a period: A missed period does not necessarily mean the patient is pregnant if she has followed the schedule correctly. Missed periods may occur occasionally with oral contraceptives.
If she has followed the schedule correctly and is missing a period, refer to the doctor before starting a new pack.
