Indications/Uses
GERD; PUD, duodenal & gastric ulceration.
Dosage/Direction for Use
GERD 20-40 mg once daily for 4 wk, increased to 8 wk if necessary. Maintenance: 20-40 mg daily. PUD Usual dose: 40 mg once daily. Duration of treatment: Duodenal ulcer 2-4 wk; Benign gastric ulceration 4-8 wk. Hepatic impairment Dose may be reduced or be given on alternate days. Max: 20 mg daily, or 40 mg on alternate days.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before meals. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Reduce dose in severe liver impairment; monitor liver function regularly.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, diarrhoea, skin rashes. Pruritus, dizziness, fatigue, constipation, nausea & vomiting, flatulence, abdominal pain, arthralgia, myalgia, urticaria & dry mouth. Bullous eruption, erythema multiforme, angioedema, anaphylaxis.
