Indications/Uses
Adjunct to diet & exercise to improve glycemic control in adults w/ type 2 DM as monotherapy, or in combination w/ metformin, sulfonylurea or thiazolidinediones when diet & exercise plus a single agent does not result in adequate glycemic control.
Dosage/Direction for Use
100 mg once daily. Moderate renal insufficiency (CrCl >30 to <50 mL/min, women) 50 mg once daily. Severe renal insufficiency (CrCl <30 mL/min) or w/ end-stage renal disease (ESRD) 25 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity reactions eg, anaphylaxis, angioedema & exfoliative skin conditions including Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
Special Precautions
Moderate or severe renal insufficiency & in patients w/ ESRD. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly & childn.
Adverse Reactions
Upper resp tract infection, nasopharyngitis & headache; hypoglycemia.
