Indications/Uses
Depression & premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder w/ or w/o agoraphobia, social phobia & post-traumatic stress disorder, & as part of the management of bulimia nervosa.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Depression 20 mg once daily. Bulimia nervosa 60 mg once daily. Obsessive-compulsive disorder Initially 20 mg once daily up to 60-80 mg daily. Panic disorder Initially 10 mg once daily up to 20-60 mg daily. Premenstrual dysphoric disorder 20 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Increased risk of suicidal thinking & behavior (suicidality), in childn & adolescents w/ major depressive disorder & other psychiatric disorders. Patient w/ history of epilepsy; cardiac disease or history of bleeding disorder, diabetes, angle-closure glaucoma, impaired hepatic function. May impair performance of skilled task & affect ability to drive or operate machinery.
Adverse Reactions
Dry mouth & GI disturbances eg, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, constipation & diarrhea; anorexia & wt loss; anxiety, restlessness, nervousness, insomnia, drowsiness, fatigue, headache, tremor, agitation, extrapyramidal effects, depersonalization, mania, panic attacks, sexual dysfunction & symptoms suggestive of serotonin syndrome.
