Indications/Uses
Prevention & treatment of damages due to faulty or deficient protein metabolism in chronic kidney disease in connection w/ a limited dietary protein intake of ≤40 g/day (adults), usually applies to patients whose GFR is <25 mL/min.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food: Do not chew.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Hypercalcemia due to any cause. Patients of phenylketonuria. Disturbed amino acid metabolism.
Special Precautions
Regularly monitor serum Ca level. Concomitant use w/ Ca. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Drug Interactions
Increased serum Ca levels w/ drugs containing Ca. Avoid concomitant administration of antacids containing Al hydroxide. Interference of absorption w/ antimicrobials eg, tetracyclines, ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin & Fe prep.
