Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 20 mg once daily. Max dose: 40 mg once daily. Vol- or salt-depleted patient 10 mg once daily. Elderly Max dose: 20 mg once daily. Mild to moderate renal impairment (CrCl 20-60 mL/min) 20 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Biliary obstruction. Pregnancy (2nd & 3rd trimesters) & lactation.
Special Precautions
Vol &/or salt-depleted patients, bilateral renal artery stenosis, severe renal (CrCl <20 mL/min) & hepatic impairment, aortic or mitral valve stenosis, obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, primary aldosteronism, ischemic cerebrovascular disease. Childn & adolescents.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness, bronchitis, cough, pharyngitis, rhinitis, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dyspepsia, gastroenteritis, nausea, arthritis, back & skeletal pain, hematuria, UTI, chest pain, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, peripheral edema, pain.
Drug Interactions
K-sparing diuretics, K supplements & K-containing prep, heparin, other antihypertensives, NSAIDs, antacids, lithium.
