Multivitamins, iron, calcium.
Description
Each capsule contains: Thiamine mononitrate (Vitamin B1) 10 mg, Riboflavin sodium phosphate (Vitamin B2) 2 mg, Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3) 20 mg, Pyridoxine HCl (Vitamin B6) 2 mg, Folic acid (Vitamin B9) 400 mcg, Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) 10 mcg, Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) 150 mg, Iron (equivalent to 200 mg Ferrous sulfate) 60 mg, Calcium (equivalent to 100 mg Calcium lactate) 13 mg.
Indications/Uses
It is primarily used for maternal and fetal supplemental care. It may also be used for the prevention and treatment of vitamin B6-deficiency, folic acid-deficiency, iron-deficiency, and megaloblastic anemia during pregnancy, lactation, menstrual blood loss and neural tube defects. It enhances body's resistance to different stresses and diseases. It improves blood circulation. Also, it helps prevent risk of developing gestational hypertensive disorders (pre-eclampsia), preterm birth and promotes fetal bone development.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Take one capsule daily or as prescribed by the physician. Take with or without food. Intake with Vitamin D greatly enhances absorption of calcium.
Contraindications
For patients with history of hypersensitivity to the components and to cobalt. Not given to patients with renal dysfunction, sarcoidosis, arrhythmia, hemochromatosis, and hemolytic anemia.
Adverse Reactions
Gastrointestinal side effects (gas bloating, stomach cramps, diarrhea, constipation, black tarry stools), increase in urination, hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria and kidney stones.
Drug Interactions
Vitamins: Drugs with same content to avoid overdose, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, anticoagulants, cyclosporine, fluorouracil, insulin, phenytoin, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, methotrexate, milk, aluminum and copper preparations, phenobarbital and levodopa.
Ferrous sulfate: Antacids, chloramphenicol, levodopa, levothyroxine, penicillamine, quinolones, cefdinir, dimercaprol, Histamine H2 receptor antagonists, proton pump inhibitors, tetracycline, and dairy products.
Calcium: High sodium and high protein intake increases urinary calcium excretion; caffeine and alcohol reduce calcium absorption; calcium reduces the therapeutic effect of Calcium-channel blockers (eg. nifedipine, amlodipine); Calcium decreases absorption of quinolones, levothyroxine, phenytoin and tetracycline.
Storage
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
Protect from light.
