Indications/Uses
Adjuvant treatment of post-menopausal women w/ hormone receptor +ve early invasive breast cancer & early breast cancer in hormone receptor +ve post-menopausal women who have received 2-3 yr of adjuvant tamoxifen. Advanced breast cancer in post-menopausal women.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult including elderly 1 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
May cause reduction in bone mineral density w/ a possible consequent increased risk of fracture. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Severe hepatic or renal impairment. Not recommended in premenopausal women & childn.
Adverse Reactions
Hot flushes; asthenia; arthralgia/joint stiffness, arthritis; headache; nausea; rash. Hair thinning (alopecia), allergic reactions; diarrhea, vomiting; somnolence, carpal tunnel syndrome, sensory disturbances (including paraesthesia, taste loss & perversion); increased alkaline phosphatase, ALT, AST; vag dryness & bleeding; anorexia, hypercholesterolemia; bone pain, myalgia.
Drug Interactions
May diminish pharmacological action w/ tamoxifen &/or other therapies containing estrogen.
