Meloxicam
Indications/Uses
Relief of the signs & symptoms of pauciarticular or polyarticular course of juvenile RA in patients ≥2 yr, RA, OA.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly OA or RA Initially 7.5 mg once daily. May be increased to 15 mg once daily. Max: 15 mg once daily. Juvenile RA 0.125 mg/kg once daily. Elderly Usual adult dose.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take w/ water or other liqd.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to meloxicam. CABG surgery. Nasal polyps associated to bronchospasm; aspirin-induced (high risk of severe allergic reaction), previous allergic/anaphylactic reaction to aspirin or other NSAIDs. Active or preexisting GI bleeding, active peptic ulcer disease, CV disease or risk factors for CV disease & severe renal function impairment.
Special Precautions
Patients who have experienced asthma, urticaria or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs should not be given w/ meloxicam. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn (when in treatment of OA or RA). Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, dyspepsia, flatulence (more frequent incidence).
