Cefoperazone Na 1 g, sulbactam Na 500 mg
Resp tract infection (upper & lower), UTI (upper & lower), peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis, other intra-abdominal infections, septicemia, meningitis, skin & soft tissue infections, bone & joint infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, gonorrhea & other genital tract infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 2-4 g/day as IV/IM every 12 hr in equally divided doses. Severe or refractory infections 8 g as IV every 12 hr in equally divided doses. Childn 40-80 mg/kg/day every 6-12 hr. Serious or refractory infections 240 mg/kg/day in 2-4 equally divided doses. Neonates In the 1st wk of life, administer every 12 hr. Max of 80 mg/kg/day. Renal impairment CrCl 15-30 mL/min Max of 1-g sulbactam every 12 hr, <15 mL/min Max of 500 mg sulbactam every 12 hr.
Known allergy to penicillins, sulbactam, cefoperazone, or other cephalosporins.
Special Precautions
History of hypersensitivity to multiple allergens. Overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms may occur during prolonged use. Hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Premature infants & neonates.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances; dermatologic reactions, headache, inj pain, chills, & anaphylactoid reactions.
