Contents
Cholecalciferol 200 IU, Ca 600 mg, Mg 50 mg, Zn 7.5 mg, manganese 1.8 mg, copper 1 mg
Indications/Uses
Prevention & treatment of osteoporosis; Ca & vit D deficiency states.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Preferably taken w/ meals to ensure optimal absorption. Drink w/ a full glass of water (8 oz), unless on kidney dialysis. Do not take w/ high-fiber meal (eg, bran/whole grain/cereal/bread/fresh fruits).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ renal insufficiency.
Special Precautions
Kidney disease or history of kidney stones; stomach or digestion problems eg, on-going diarrhea, absorbing nutrients properly, or not having enough acid in the stomach. Avoid smoking cigarettes or cigars &/or drinking large amounts of alcohol or caffeine. Monitor blood regularly if using a large amount of Ca or in long-term use. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Ca/vit D: Abdominal distension/pain, constipation, diarrhea, eructation/burping, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria & nephrolithiasis.
Drug Interactions
Ca: Tetracyclines (eg, doxycycline, minocycline), fluoroquinolones & levothyroxine. High-fiber meal (eg, bran, whole-grain, cereal or bread, fresh fruits).
