Caution For Usage
Reconstitution: Dissolve the contents of the vial in 20 mL of sterile water for injection. The reconstituted solution may be further diluted with desired volume of a compatible diluent (see following text), depending upon the dose.
Standard Diluent: 5% dextrose or 0.9% saline or lactated Ringer's solution.
The concentration of dobutamine administered depends on the dosage and the fluid requirement of individual patients but should never exceed 5000 mcg/mL. Additives should not be introduced in the container.
Dilution of Dobutamine: Dobutamine 250 mg is diluted with a compatible diluent to 1000 mL, 500 mL or 250 mL corresponding to desired concentration of 250 mcg/mL, 500 mcg/mL and 1000 mcg/mL, respectively.
Stability: Diluted solutions for IV infusion should be used within 24 hrs. Unused solutions should be discarded. Pink discoloration of solution indicates a slight oxidation but no significant loss of potency.
