Decreased Effect: β-adrenergic blockers (increased peripheral resistance).
Increased Toxicity: General anesthetics (eg, halothane or cyclopropane). Usual dose of dobutamine have resulted in ventricular arrhythmias in animals.
Compatibility: Dobutamine is compatible with dopamine, epinephrine, isoproterenol and lidocaine.
Incompatibilities: Dobutamine is incompatible with heparin, sodium bicarbonate, cefazolin and penicillin. It is incompatible with alkaline solutions. It is also incompatible with alkaline drugs eg, aminophylline, furosemide and thiopentone sodium. Physical incompatibility with bumetanide, calcium gluconate, insulin, diazepam and phenytoin has also been reported.
