Dextran 70, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose.
Description
Each mL contains: Dextran 70 1 mg, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose 3 mg.
Dextran 70, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose is formulated to be a lubricant eye drop for the relief of various ocular irritation syndromes (dry eyes). This unique solution contains (Bisorb) a special water soluble polymeric system which combines with existing tears of the eye to promote corneal wetting.
It provides extended retention time in the eye even if it is not a highly viscous solution. It reduces the discomfort normally associated with dry eye conditions.
Statistical studies have shown the solution to be more comfortable than other tear substitutes.
Action
Pharmacology: The following attributes to Dextran 70, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose have been demonstrated: Synergistically utilizes existing tear components to provide a hydrophilic surface on the cornea through normal pre-corneal tear film corneal surface adsorptive processes; enhances precorneal tear film stability and promotes corneal wetting through physiological blending with the precorneal tear film; extends retention time without increased viscosity; mimics the action of conjunctival mucus.
