Indications/Uses
Prevention & therapy of damages due to faulty or deficient protein metabolism in chronic renal insufficiency in connection w/ limited protein in food of 40 g/day in adult w/ GFR <25 mL/min.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypercalcemia, disturbed amino acid metabolism. Hereditary phenylketonuria.
Special Precautions
Monitor serum Ca level. Ensure sufficient supply of calories.
Drug Interactions
Increased or intensification of serum Ca level w/ Ca-containing medicaments (eg, acetolyte). Al hydroxide. May interfere w/ Ca absorption w/ tetracyclines, ciprofloxacin & norfloxacin, Fe-fluoride & estramustin-containing drugs. Risk of arrhythmia w/ cardiac-active glycosides.
