Fenofibrate
Indications/Uses
Treatment of types IIa, IIb, III, IV & V hyperlipoproteinemias. Secondary hyperlipoproteinemia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Severe renal dysfunction, active liver disease, hepatic dysfunction eg, primary biliary cirrhosis & unexplained persistent liver function, preexisting gallbladder disease, chronic or acute pancreatitis. Known photoallergy or phototoxic reaction during treatment w/ fenofibrate or ketoprofen. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity. Monitor liver & renal function. Cholelithiasis, pancreatitis, venothromboembolic disease, hematologic changes. Muscle toxicity, rhabdomyolysis. Discontinue therapy in case of an increase in creatinine levels >50% ULN. Childn & infants. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Abnormal elevation in serum transaminases (ALT &/or AST), epigastric distress, flatulence, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, erythema, pruritus, urticaria, muscle pain & weakness, arthralgia, headache, dizziness, insomnia, decreased libido, hair loss, & wt loss, back pain, asthenia, flu syndrome, chest pain, accidental injury. CNS, CV, GI, hemic & lymphatic, hepatobiliary, metabolic & nutritional, musculoskeletal, resp & urogenital disorders. Effects on special senses, skin & appendages
Drug Interactions
Coumarin anticoagulants, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, bile acid sequestrants, colchicine, glitazones, cyclosporine, tacrolimus.

C10AB05 - fenofibrate ; Belongs to the class of fibrates. Used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia.
