Clotrimazole
Indications/Uses
Fungal skin infections eg, ringworm, athlete's foot, fungal nappy rash & fungal sweat rash. Relieve irritation of the vulva (external thrush) or the end of the penis which may be associated w/ thrush.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply thinly & evenly to the affected areas bid or tid & rubbed in gently. Duration of treatment: 2 wk or up to 4 wk.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or cetostearyl alcohol. Nail or scalp infections.
Special Precautions
Reduced effectiveness of rubber contraceptives eg, condoms or diaphragms. If using applied to vulva or penis, alternative precautions for at least 5 days after using. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Itching, rash, blisters, burning, discomfort, swelling, irritation, redness or peeling of skin.
Drug Interactions
Reduced effectiveness of latex contraceptives.
