Forair 250 DPI Salmeterol xinafoate 50 mcg, fluticasone propionate 250 mcg. Forair 500 DPI Salmeterol xinafoate 50 mcg, fluticasone propionate 500 mcg
Maintenance & treatment of mild, moderate & severe persistent asthma in patients w/ >5 yr; w/ COPD.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent ≥12 yr 1 inhalation of 250 mcg or 500 mcg bid.
Hypersensitivity to salmeterol & corticosteroid, or fluticasone; previous history of paradoxical bronchospasm.
Special Precautions
Discontinue when asthma symptoms of acute exacerbation occur. Avoid use as sole agent for asthma control. Risk of exacerbation in abrupt discontinuation. Sudden & progressive deterioration in control of asthma. Symptomatic decompensation w/ COPD. Avoid during pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity. Salmeterol: fine tremors; palpitations, tachycardia, nervous tensions, headaches, peripheral vasodilation.
Drug Interactions
Salmeterol: Increase risk of hypokalemia w/ corticosteroids, diuretics or xanthines. Fluticasone: May enhance metabolism & reduce systemic effects w/ barbiturates, carbamazepine, phenytoin, primidone or rifampicin. Increase plasma conc w/ OCs or ritonavir. Excessive K loss w/ thiazides or furosemide.
