Why do I need this medicine?
Hydrocortisone is used to relieve inflammation of the eye.
How do I use this medicine?
Use Hydrocortisone exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Hydrocortisone solution or suspension may be used during the day, and Hydrocortisone ointment applied at night.

Do not stop using this medicine abruptly without your doctor's advice. If improvement does not occur within several days of applying Hydrocortisone or if your condition worsens, alert your doctor immediately.

How to use eye drop solution:

1. Wash and dry your hands before using Hydrocortisone Eye Drops.
2. Shake the bottle well before using.
3. Tilt you head back and, with the index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch and look upwards.
4. Hold the dropper with the other hand, as close to the eye as possible without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper to release the required number of drops into the pouch.
5. Gently close your eyes. Do not blink. Keep your eyes closed for 1 or 2 minutes.
6. Wipe any excess liquid from your face with a tissue.
7. Replace and tighten the cap of the bottle.

Do not touch/wipe/ rinse the dropper tip, and do not let the dropper tip touch the eye, eyelids, or other surfaces.

How to use eye ointment:

1. Wash and dry your hands before applying Hydrocortisone Eye Ointment .
2. With your index finger, pull the lower eyelid down the eye to form a pouch.
3. Hold the tube with your other hand and place it as near to your eyelid as possible without touching it. Squeeze a thin strip of ointment (about 1cm unless otherwise stated) into the pouch.
4. Gently close your eyes and keep them closed for 1 or 2 minutes.
5. Wipe any excess ointment from the eyelids and lashes with a tissue. With another clean tissue, wipe the tip of the tube clean.
6. Replace and tighten the cap of the tube.
7. Wash your hands to remove any medication.
What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?
Use the eye drop/eye ointment as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
When should I not use this medicine?
Alert your doctor if you have any bacterial, viral or fungal infections of the eye. Alert your doctor if you experience pain or unknown redness in your eye as this medicine may not be suitable for you.
What should I take note of while using this medicine?
Inform your doctor if you have:

- glaucoma (increased pressure in the eyes)
- cataract (clouding of the lens of the eyes causing blurred vision)
- diabetes
- diseases causing thinning of the cornea (transparent layer forming the front of the eye)
- infections of the cornea or conjunctiva (clear layer of tissue lining the eyelids)

If you are wearing soft contact lenses, remove them before using Hydrocortisone Eye Drop or Ointment.

Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
What side effects could I experience?
Hydrocortisone may cause eye irritation or blurred vision when the ointment is applied. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I use this with other medicines?
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are using any of these medicines:

- other medicines for glaucoma
- atropine (medicine for eye inflammation)

This list does not include all medicines that may interact with Hydrocortisone.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking or using any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicine, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
What special dietary instructions should I follow?
Avoid alcohol.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Keep the container tightly closed. Throw away 4 weeks after opening, whether or not you have finished the medicine in it.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
